A Thankful Heart
by Sheila Weddle

One day Jesus had 5000 people come to Him and He wanted to feed them. In the book of John 6:11, "And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks He distributed them."

The scripture tells us that each person got to eat as much as he wanted. I would say Jesus had a wonderful time hosting those people that day as He watched them eat, laugh and fellowship.

You may not be feeding 5000 people at your house during this Christmas season, but the example that our Jesus gave us was to give thanks. He acknowledged the Father who gives and does all things well. Give thanks during these days and let your heart become a thankful heart. Let Him show you how to become a thankful person and live in the peace and joy that He has for you.

"Be thankful to Him, and bless His name." - Psalm 100:4

The season of Christmas calls for more activities than other times of the year. So if you were busy before - busier is what you are now.

Taking time to reflect and just say "Thank you Lord" seems to take more effort than we are willing to give on some days. Let me suggest some ways to say, "Thank you Lord" during our busy day to day lives:

  • As you awake each morning say, "Thank you Lord for this new day."
  • As you dress and go about getting ready for the new day. Say, "Thank you Lord for the clothes we wear and a place to live and a place to work"
  • Throughout the day on purpose think "Thank you Lord."

He is right there with you all the time. Acknowledge Him and watch the peace and joy that you will receive from Him. He loves you, say "Thank you Lord that you love me, and I will bless Your name."

Jesus Is Coming-Be Thankful

"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also." - John 14:3

Christmas is the season to be so thankful that Jesus came to the earth to save and redeem us from our sins. But, let us not forget that He is coming back! Jesus is coming back soon!!

As we thank Him during the days for all He has done and given to us, let us remember to thank Him because He is planning to come and take us to His home. He has already prepared a wonderful banquet for us, and our very own mansion. These are His promises that He has made to us, let us be thankful for the wonderful plans and future He has for us.

'Oh, let's be thankful that Jesus Christ is coming soon again!'

From Sheila Weddle Ministries we want to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year!

To the Glory of God,
